Judy has over 30 years experience in the technology industry. During her tenure at Virginia Tech beginning in 1982, she has served as Assistant Director, then Director of Communications Network Services, and most recently Associate Vice President for Network Infrastructure and Services overseeing implementation of several innovative, cutting edge information technology and organizational initiatives. Successful, internationally recognized projects completed or operating under Judy's leadership include Net.Work.Virginia, the Blacksburg Electronic Village, the LMDS project and the Virginia Tech Advanced Campus Internet work which was awarded the 1997 CAUSE Award for Excellence in Campus Networking (the most prestigious award in the industry). Judy has particular expertise for development of innovative financial models and business cases for complex information technology initiatives. She has demonstrated ability to effectively manage diverse components for large communications organizations including operations, business, engineering, and research. Judy is a frequent speaker and guest lecturer. She is active in several industry organizations including CAUSE, Educom, ACUTA, and CNI. She co-chairs the Net@Edu Wireless Working Group and served on the EduCause Award for Excellence in Campus Networking Award Committee.
