Groundbreaking ceremonies were held in Quincy on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 to celebrate Microsoft’s choice of Quincy, Washington as the site for their new, and largest ever data center. Quincy was selected over a hundred sites from locations around the globe. Vice President of Microsoft Network Operations, Debra Chrapaty, commented that the choice of Quincy was based on the availability of low-cost power and the presence of fiber optics. (
