Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to compare the economic benefits of publicly sponsored telecommunication networks. Comparisons were made between two adjoining communities, Cedar Falls and Waterloo Iowa.  Cedar Falls has a municipal network and Waterloo relies on private sector services. This study provides evidence of the link between advanced communications and increased economic performance.
