Abstract:

This article describes the use of telemedicine at schools and child care centers in Rochester New York.  Using telemedicine tools, day care staffers and school nurses coordinate “virtual doctor" visits using the Internet.  The virtual doctor telemedicine network enables children to be treated by their own pediatrician without leaving their day care or school.  This federally backed project serves  seven child-care centers with plans to expand the network to serve five more centers and 10 public schools throughout the city and suburbs.
