"One-Dimensional Growth" points out that Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) are only part of the ingredients needed for economic development. Clearly, ICT is not the end game, but it is a necessary means to the end, just as other basic resources are, such as roads, water, space, workers, etc. In addition, there must be other business and industry that leverage ICT for regional gain, as well as diversity.
